Wij zijn de Amsterdam Amigos


Wij zijn de Amsterdam Amigos - dat is het Spaanse woord voor vrienden. We zijn geen formele vereniging met statuten en huishoudelijke reglementen, maar een groep vrienden en vriendinnen die het plezier in het dansen en samenzijn belangrijker vinden dan het perfect onder de knie krijgen van de juiste manier om je been te buigen, of om een driekwart slag te draaien binnen precies één tel. We vinden het leuk om te dansen!
Wij zijn een gay linedance-groep, en we zouden misschien gay/­lesbian linedance-groep moeten heten, of misschien wel lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, non-binary, queer (& straight) linedance-groep. In ieder geval gaan we nooit iemand die met ons mee wil dansen uittesten of zij of hij wel de juiste seksuele smaak of identiteit heeft. Als je bij ons danst moet je het goed vinden om onder de noemer “gay” te dansen.
We vinden het ook leuk dat er mensen van heel verschillende achtergronden in onze groep dansen.
En we heten alleen Amsterdams omdat de meerderheid uit Amsterdam komt en we elke week in Amsterdam dansen. Wie van elders komt is even welkom!

Hier vind je de dansen die we in de loop der jaren hebben geleerd en gedanst. Sommige dansen doen we nog regelmatig, andere zijn vrijwel vergeten. In de eerste regels kun je vaak op "choreografie" klikken om de dans uitgevoerd te zien en op "muziek" om de muziek te horen waarop we de dans uitvoer(d)en. Soms staat onderaan meer informatie over het lied of de muziek, klik dan onder de dansbeschrijving op "meer".

We are the Amsterdam Amigos. Amigos is the Spanish word for friends. We are not a formal association with a constitution and standing rules, but rather a group of friends (f/m/ ) who prefer dancing and being together over the perfect way to bend the leg, or turning the body ¾ turn in exactly one count. We simply enjoy dancing!
We are a gay linedance group, and maybe we should call ourselves lesbian/gay, or LGBTQI+, non-binary and straight. Rest assured that we will never check if someone who wants to join, has 'the proper sexual orientation or gender identity.' Joining us means that you are okay with dancing in a linedance group that calls itself gay. We also enjoy the fact that the backgrounds in our group show a wide diversity.
And we only call ourselves Amsterdam Amigos because our 'home' where we dance is located in Amsterdam; some of us come from other parts of the Netherlands.

Here you will find descriptions of the dances we have learnt over the years; these step sheets contain global English descriptions and Dutch step-by-step instructions. Some of the dances are danced almost every evening, some have been forgotten by (almost) everyone of our group. If you click on the line 'choreografie' you will (hopefully) see a video showing the way a dance is performed; if you click on Muziek you will just get a video with the music. In some cases, translations into Dutch are added (when you click "meer lezen" = read more).
